A speargun “bungee” (often spelled bungee, sometimes slang like “boingi”) is a short stretchable cord used in spearfishing setups.
What it does:
It acts as a shock absorber between your speargun/line and the fish.
Why it’s useful:
- Absorbs sudden force when a fish runs after being shot
- Reduces the chance of the spear tearing out of the fish
- Protects your line and gear from snapping under tension
- Helps keep steady pressure on the fish during the fight
Where it’s used:
- Often connected between the float line and the shooting line, or
- Between the float and float line in bluewater setups
